The Art Students League of Denver does a lot of important work that flies under the radar and its Visiting Artist Series is a a good example.
For a decade now, ASLD has brought professionl artists with serious reputations to town to talk with, teach and coach local artists. The group celebrates the program’s 10th anniversary with the exhibit “A Revisiting,” opening Dec. 10 and featuring work from the visitors themselves.
Some of them are familiar, like John De Andrea, whose “Linda” sculpture is a favorite at the Denver Art Museum; Luis Jimenez, maker of the loved/hated “Mustang” at DIA; and Donald Lipski, best-known for his “Horse & Chair” in front of the Denver Public Library.
Lesser known, at least locally, are Robyn O’Neil, Jenny Dubnau and Arthur Gonzalez.
The show is at ASLD’s Carson Gallery, 760 Santa Fe Drive. There’s also a reception 5:30-9 p.m. Dec. 20. Free.
